Agnes Moorehead plays Wyman's unsympathetic sister and received an Oscar nomination for "Best Supporting Actress." Charles Bickford received on Oscar nomination as Wyman's stoic fisherman father. Lew Ayres' sensitive portrayal of the compassionate doctor caught in the crossfire also earned an Oscar nomination.
