Ruby (Jean Harlow) is a cynical blonde who is not above swindling her dates. When con man Eddie Hall (Clark Gable) barges into her life, Ruby knows she's met her soul mate.

She and Eddie set about a partnership in small-time crime, but a routine scheme goes bad, and Ruby ends up in a reformatory. In every kind of trouble, she's sure Eddie has deserted her. But she's changed him—in ways she never suspected.
