Original Theatrical Date: October 20, 1995
The employees of Empire Records, an independent music store on the verge of being sold to a large conglomerate, band together to stage a fund-raising party to raise enough money to buy the business. The director of Pump Up the Volume cranks it up another notch with this comedy about an eventful day in the lives of the young slackers, doers and dreamers who work at a bustling record store. Stars Renee Zellweger, Liv Tyler, Anthony La Paglia, Ethan Embry and Robin Tunney.
Music of the era, including songs from Gin Blossoms, the Cranberries, Toad the Wet Sprocket, Cracker, Evan Dando, Better Than Ezra and more, underscores virtually every scene.
