In love and determined, heiress Joan Winfield (Davis) hires a plane to fly to Nevada and elope with the man she adores, but her equally strong-willed oil tycoon father offers the pilot (Cagney) even more money to bring her home unwed.

Then everyone's plans spin out of control when the plane crashes in the desert, trapping a petulant, desperate, would-be bride with the man who has betrayed her.
