Author Ernest Cline Announces Call for Submissions

“Any film from Steven Spielberg is an event film," said Dan Fellman, former President of Warner Bros. Domestic Distribution of Ready Player One back in August. And now you have a chance to be a part of that event in a very special way.

Warner Bros. is inviting digital artists worldwide to design a 3D avatar for the upcoming Spielberg film. The big-screen adaptation will feature human actors as well as virtual, and that's where you come in. Author of the best-selling novel upon which the movie is based, Ernest Cline, announced the call for submissions via video and reminded artists that in the virtual world of The OASIS that anything is possible and "don't limit yourself."

A minimum of 5 selected artists will potentially have their avatar design, produced and featured in the film and receive $1,000. Additional artists may also be selected to have their avatars appear as background graffiti art within the film. To learn more about the upcoming film, which begins shooting this summer, as well as all entry guidelines and submission rules, head over to the Creative Invite page.

Submissions are open until June 23, 2016 and final selections will be announced July 7, 2016.
