"An American in Paris" Soundtrack Goes Digital
If you can’t make it over to Paris during your summer vacation this year, then why not bring a little bit of Paris home? Well, at least a bit of Paris courtesy of Hollywood set designers.
WaterTower Music, the Warner Bros. in-house music label, has just released the Digital Deluxe Edition of An American in Paris: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack (the 1996 CD version being long out of print). Read our interview with WaterTower's Jason Linn for more info on the label.
This deluxe soundtrack from the 1951 classic musical starring Gene Kelly, Leslie Caron and Oscar Levant (and winner of the “Best Picture” at both the Academy Awards AND Golden Globes, we might add) features 47 tracks including outtakes and alternate versions of the George Gershwin tunes (and lyrics from that other Gershwin, Ira) we all know and love.
In addition to the immortal songs like “’S Wonderful,” “I’ve Got a Crush on You,” “But Not For Me” and “I Got Rhythm,” there are outtakes and extended versions of them as well. And it’s all just a download away on iTunes.
And if you also want to “see” An American in Paris, the movie itself is also available on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital. Here’s the original theatrical trailer to tease your memory.
